The Jamkhed Project was established to promote health amongs the poorest of the poor in the city og Jamkhed. With effective health training, villages were able to experience tremendous amounts of improvement in health.

The Jamked Project began by first establishing a small hospital in hopes of gaining politcal support and credibility from the city. As well as promoting health.

Given that many of the woman in India have experienced trauma, and abuse, this project began with a self transformation. Establishing an identity and learning about who they are was essential.

One of the many things taught by this program is preventative care. Delivering knowledge of preventative care as well as other subjects of health contributed to the improvement of health in India's poor villages. Health Workers are now able to apply what they learned.

Jamked Hospital Trained in 300 different villages. As a result, Traditonal Scourges such as diarrhea, pneumonia, and malaria have vanished. Higher rates of vaccination are available. Infant Mortality rates have decreased. 99% of births are attended to. Courses have been given to 18,000 Indians and 2,000 others from 100 Countries.

One of the few things that hinders this movement's succes is the stigma and supersition held widely in the villages. Often times the superstitions override the medical effectiveness because many people believe in superstition over medicine. If a villager believes a disease is God sent this may interfere with seeking medical help.

After the workers are trained the program establishes a link between the village health and a hospital. It also provides drugs and supplies as well as new skills and knowledge. The program leaders keep in touch with village health workers to ensure effectiveness of health care.
